The Latest Inversion Therapy Table Technology

When it comes to cutting edge inversion table technology, Teeter have pretty much got it all wrapped up. The Teeter Hang Ups EP960 is one of their latest models, and takes their already great design a step further again – meaning that you’ll be getting the best that technology has to offer.

If you’re looking to reduce back and joint pain, improve flexibility, or just maintain joint health, then inverted stretching is important to encourage rehydration and increase flexibility. When muscles tighten they can pull joints out of alignment, and this leads to imbalances throughout the body leading to pain and stiffness. Inversion therapy assists by letting you gently stretch while unloading your spine and joints, and will lead to better posture and an increased sense of well-being.

The EP-960 Inversion Table is the most full-featured non-powered inversion table available, and after my investigations I think it’s the best offering yet from Teeter.

A few minutes a day is all you need to see improvement, and with the optional extra features available with this inversion table you can really customize it to suit your needs. Add to this the handy laminated owner’s manual and included instructional DVD, and you have a model that stands apart from other inversion tables on the market.

Let’s have a closer look…

Build Quality & AssemblyTeeter Hang Ups EP-960 Inversion Therapy Table

Teeter hang Ups are so serious about quality that they have their models voluntarily tested by Dynamark Engineering, who have certified Teeter’s inversion tables to the high UL safety standard. This makes Teeter Hang Ups the only inversion brand with certified quality, and so you are assured of high safety, precise operation, and longevity of use.

This model comes with the ComforTrak table bed, which is designed to freely flex with your body, giving you maximum range of motion when stretching. The other great thing about the bed is the material it is made of. This extremely low friction surface lets you move without hindrance, is very hard-wearing, cannot be torn, and can be wiped clean easily.

A completely new innovation with this bed is the ability to add an adjustable lumbar bridge, and also special acupressure points. These items unfortunately don’t come with the table, but are quite reasonably priced. If you want to get the most out of this table then these are great additions, but are not necessary to get all the benefits of inversion therapy.

The EP960 also has 2 sets of built-in handles, one set that reaches down each side of the frame are great for beginners to help pivot back up out of inversion, and the other smaller set for maximizing your de-compressive stretching.

Assembly of the Teeter EP-960 is another  area where the manufacturer has put great thought into their product, and the unit comes 85% pre-assembled to make it very easy to put together. Most inversion tables take 45 minutes or more to assemble, and some people have great difficulty, but with the EP-960 you should find it’s no trouble to assemble this in around 15 minutes, and it comes with basic tools to get the job done.

Base Stability

The EP950 Inversion Table has a base frame constructed from heavy-duty heat-treated steel, and with the solid rubber corner feet increases the width of the base at the floor by 20%, this inversion table is as solid as a rock. The table is rated to hold people up to 300 pounds in weight, and will easily hold anyone in this weight range.

Ankle Locking System

Teeter Hang Ups EP-960 Inversion Table - Ankle ClaspsThis inversion table features Teeter’s Ergo-Embrace Supports, which is a fancy name for the melded high-density foam cups that go around the front and rear of your ankles. This is the best design when it comes to ankle clamping systems, as the pressure is more evenly distributed when compared to the foam-roller style of clamps. As with all inversion tables it is worth wearing some thick socks and solid shoes to help bear your weight, and this helps to get the length of inversion time you desire.

A great feature of this latest style of ankle clamps is that the foot platform can be adjusted up or down relative to the ankle clasps, which really helps tune the system to fit your body’s height – and is a feature not seen on other inversion tables. Teeter do of course have another fancy name for this! – It’s called the Ankle Comfort Dial.

Teeter have also thought about the release mechanism carefully, and have a simple and long lever for easily releasing the ankle clamps. Many inversion tables have short levers and force you to reach almost down to your feet to unlock them, and that’s probably the last thing you want to do if you already suffer back pain – so the EP-960 gets bonus brownie points for this one!

Height & Tilt AdjustmentTeeter Hang Ups EP-960 Inversion Table - Full Lockout

The Teeter EP-960 has finely tuned table balancing, featuring a 3-position system for helping to control the inversion speed, and is set according to a combination of your weight and experience with inversion. There is a tether strap included, and this allows you to pre-set the maximum inversion angle to 20, 40, or 60 degrees of inversion, or else it can be loosened right off to allow a full 90 degrees of inversion.

The table locks out at full inversion to allow exercising to tone the abs, gluts and legs, and gives the ultimate workout while completely decompressing your spine. Engineering tests have been performed on this table that prove that the Teeter system has superior balancing compared to other brands, and the table swings freely up and down simply by changing the position of your arms. This is great since it allows you to oscillate the table back and forth, which is a recognised method of effectively treating back pain since it rhythmically loads and unloads the spine, helping to promote realignment.

The table pivots feature specialized pivot bearings that ensure no-squeak operation, and a de-rattler knob for fine-tuning the operation and removing any side play.

The EP-960 inversion table is easily adjusted for a height range of between 4’8” and 6’6”, which will suit most people. The adjuster is simply operated by a spring loaded pull pin, and the bar is marked with graduations to tune it to your height and weight distribution. As with all inversion tables you may find you need to adjust it to an inch longer than your height to get the table at the right balance point for your body.

Customizable FeaturesLumbar Bridge & Acupressure Nodes

Teeter Hang Ups certainly lead the pack when it comes to innovation, and the EP series of tables have optional extras that you can purchase to enhance the tables. Are these additions really necessary? Well, strictly speaking – no!

…However we all love having choices, and the EP-960 can accommodate even more extra features than its predecessors, giving you the option to maximize its usage. Let’s have a quick look at the available extras:

Lumbar Bridge
This device fits into the slots of the table bed, and can be set for varying amounts of curve to suit the amount of extra stretch you want in your lower back.

Acupressure Nodes
These are buttons that come in 2 sizes and 2 densities, and can be placed anywhere in the slots of the backrest and lumbar bridge for getting some pressure into just the right spots.

Vibration Cushion with Heated Neck Pillow
This feature is for gentle therapeutic massage, and includes 10 motors and 2 heaters for giving you that all over relaxing feeling.

So none of these extras are absolutely necessary, but it’s always nice to have options!
